Natural Hair Inspiration It's The Weekend January 18th, 2013

So I've been tied up and down with school work so I haven't posted any Weekend Inspirational looks for awhile.  Well this will be the first Friday inspirational look that I've done in a long time.  It will be none other than me.  The style was achieved by shampooing the hair, protein treatment, condition, and blown out.

Natural Hair Inspiration It's The Weekend August 24th, 2012

Even though Megan Good's hair isn't natural, she has a refreshing haircut.  Even if you are natural, you should be able to achieve this look.  Just let your stylist blow dry and straighten your hair with a quality heating tools that won't damage your curls.  Or you can get a temporary straightening treatment that is formaldehyde free.  Once your hair is straighten, then your stylist can cut your hair in a short style you desire.  Then when your ready to wear your hair in it's natural curl, it will still have a similar style as when straighten.  Only thing is that your hair won't be as elongated.

Natural Hair Inspiration: It's The Weekend August 17th, 2012

In a recent post I talked about being inspired by a hairstyle worn on Taliah Waajid in a recent Hype Hair magazine.  I decided to try the hairstyle out shown above in the magazine using the products  and hair combs.  I twisted my hair in small sections using eco styler gel and did a twist out.  I did this style Monday, yesterday it was still in good shape, but today is the last day for this hair style.  I didn't tie my hair up at night, I just slept on my satin pillow case.  Plus I wore my Onyc Kinky curly wig when I went out during the day which dryed the hairstyle out some.  

I like this style it is a great option for short type 4 hair when you want to create curl definition.  It does take longer to create than a simple twa though.  It took me a total of 1 1/2 hours to twist my hair.

It's The Weekend Natural Hair Inspiration August 10th, 2012

Do you have type 4 hair and think you can't create beautiful twist outs on your short hair?  It takes a little bit more time to create than a twa, but it can last you for a week or more.  You still will have to refresh your twist out with some sort of hair butter, oil, or mist of water.  In my opinion just creating a twa, shaping with your hand and a hair pick is much easier to create.  You still will have to refresh with water or conditioner every morning and a hair pick.

So after seeing Beyonce box braids I decided to post these pictures, I like the way her braids look and how she has them swept to the side.  Also the color of her lipstick in the second picture is popping.

During my first natural hair journey, before I decided to relax my hair and before doing the big chop all over again.  This is a style I would wear sometimes whenever I straighten my massive thick and long natural hair.  


To create this look I straighten my hair, then twisted my hair with random large twists.  Then I took a section of twists and rolled it around in a circle and pinned it.  I would always wear a headband so that you couldn't see how awful my edges look.  This is much easier than braiding or flat twisting your hair in the front.

It's The Weekend Natural Hair Inspiration June 22nd 2012

So if you have about shoulder length or past that natural hair, you may be tired of the seem old hairstyle.  Twist and twist out, then it's time to try a flat twist updo.  Now me myself I won't be attempting them on my own hair.  My hand and upper back would die, but what I use to do was pin my hair up in the front of my face to the side to try a different look, see pictures below.  There are different natural hair salons, or regular salons offering natural hair care services around the USA and other parts of the country.  I suggest you go to a experienced hairstylist if you don't want to attempt this look yourself.

It's The Weekend Natural Hair Inspiration June 8th, 2012

So Solange hair has is no longer this short, but what is the inspiration that we can take from this look?  Look at how moisturized her twa is, how bold she chose to wear her makeup and the huge oversized earrings. 


When wearing a twa you may want to elevate your style to boost your confidence.  Once your use to long hair it may be hard to adjust to the sudden change.  I've already been through this and there where a lot of times when I wore makeup everyday.  As my hair got longer and became a style all on it's own I didn't need all the other stuff.

So I decided that my new hair do is a whole lot of inspiration.  I've gotten compliments and it is a head turner.  So I decided to share some pictures I took that I will be putting in my next video on Youtube.

The hair I"m wearing is from Onyc Hair and it's called Kinky Curly Mongolian 3B-3C.  I used the hair to create a wig.  Check this link for a few instructions on how I created the wig.

I was inspired by other styles similar to this to create this look, hope it inspires you.

Since I started watching American Idol this season Deandre Brackensick's hair has gotten my attention.  His eye is not only eye catching but also his good looks.  He also seems to be a really shy but nice individual.  It looks like he doesn't have any bad hair day's, perfect curls, shine and hair color.

Becoming natural is not only about not using chemicals, it's the chance to let our hair grow to unbelievable lengths we never had.  After awhile though you may get tired of it, so why not go short, add some color and spunk.  Hope this inspires you to perhaps try a short do.
